AE Interset: Protective outer layer that shades the building from extreme heat in Riyadh, structural components on exterior of building to save space in the interior

AE Interest: Steel bracing systems around the perimeter of each tower allow the structural flexibility needed in an earthquake, and provide greater freedom in layouts by moving them to the outside,  large cantilevers, the two wings of the building are connected by a central concrete core

Building: Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy
Location: 1700 E. Camp Wisdom Road, Dallas, Tx
Status: Completed 2011
Architect: SHW Group

AE Interests: CHIP( Criteria for High Performance schools) approved, sustainable materials such as bamboo, uses geothermal heating and cooling by running refrigerant from the air conditioning system 300 feet under the ground to be cooled and heated by the earth.
