Building:  Wooden Highrise Apartments
Location: Frihamnen, Stockholm, Sweden
Architect: Tham & Videgrad Arkitekter (Martin Videgard, Bolle Tham)
Construction Developer: Folkhem

AE Interest:
mixed-use development; four 20-story apartment buildings housing 240 apartments; constructed completely out of Swedish solid wood; gaps between towers allow visibility of the sea; wood-framed facades, finishes, and windows; renewable and sustainable materials; minimizes total energy consumption and maximizes solar angles; angled buildings provide direct sunlight to the north-facing facades; roofs of all four towers fitted with solar panels; sedum plants on the lower rooftops to take care of rainwater [a]
