Lufthansa Aviation Center–Frankfurt, Germany
Building: Lufthansa Aviation Center
Location: Frankfurt, Germany
Architect: Ingenhoven Architects
Structural Engineer: Werner Sobek Ingenieure GmbH, Stuttgart
Project Management: Arcadis Homola GmbH & Co., Frankfurt
AE Interest: With energy conservation driving its design, the building utilizes double and triple-layered glass and advanced climate control tools, including one which regulates the building’s thermal mass in absorbing or releasing heat (hydronic loop system). The structure consists of 60-foot-spans of barrel-shaped steel, and consumes 335 kwH/sq ft in energy.
