The Marika-Alderton House

Building:  The Marika-Alderton House
Location:  Yirrkala Community, Eastern Amheim Land, Northern Territory, Australia
Completed: 1994
Architect:  Glenn Murcutt

AE Interests: Major goal of Murcutt was to cool the house. This is achieved by having the house on stilts to allow cool air to flow beneath it. Also, he uses pivoting tubes along the roof which expel hot air and vertical fins to direct cooling winds into the home.
