Location- Alicante, Spain
Completed: 1998
Architect: Alvaro Siza

José Pérez Molina
Mechanical Engineering- Joaquin Solbes llorca
General Contractor-
Gines Navarro and San José Construction

AE Interests- The concrete structure is comprised of columns and lightweight two-way slabs with openings of moderate dimensions. This structural simplicity allows for the creation of an exterior brick cavity wall containing an airspace and thermal insulation, thus protecting the project from intemperate weather. The exterior finish is stucco mixed with pulverized brick complemented by a 1.80 m high stone base which helps protect the wall.

Building- Congress Centre
Location- Murcia, Spain
Completed- 2002
Civil Engineer- Isidoro Agullo
Structure- Francisco Riuz Gijon
Mechanical Engineering- EPM S.L.

AE Interests- Concrete frame exposed and in filled with either timber panels or glass. Metal mesh ceilings, almost industrial in character, add to the neutral, rather austere character of the spaces waiting to receive their exhibitions, relieved by pools of light from the patios.
